*IG's are a toy breed, meaning that they are small.  Because of this, NO ig should be
left outside in the cold.

*IG's should never be off-leash outside of a fenced area.  They can see movement
from 300 yards away, and WILL chase it.  Again, NEVER trust your ig off leash!!  This
has cost many igs their lives due to running across streets, and becoming lost.

*IG's have very fine bones in their front legs.  This does not render them "wimpy"
but please watch jumping from high beds or sofas.

*IG's are notoriously accepting to other dogs.  However, please use caution when
putting igs with larger dogs.  They are fragile creatures.

*IGs can run 35 miles per hour.  Again, unless you can run this fast, then PLEASE
keep your igs on leash and secure!

*IGs are sighthounds.  This family includes Borzoi, Greyhounds, Whippets, Irish
Wolfounds and others.  Igs are the smallest breed in the sighthound family.

*IGs and other sighthounds require special treatment when it comes to surgery.
Be sure that your vet is sighthound smart!

*IGs can be very difficult to housetrain.  Before adopting, be sure that this is
something that you are willing to work with.

*Special caution should be used when company comes over, workmen are in your
home, etc.  Igs are opportunists when it comes to open doors and gates!

*IG's have necks that are smaller than their heads.  For this reason, igs should
always be walked in a harness or martingale collar.  Otherwise, they may back out
of a traditional leash.

*IGs have large teeth in small mouths.  Frequent brushing, and annual teeth
cleanings are a must to help them keep their teeth!
